The Peace Patrol program trains 4th-6th graders at Pepper Tree to step in and offer to mediate when they see a problem arise out on the blacktop — like someone not following the tetherball rules or sharing the slide with others. You will be seeing many of our 4th, 5th & 6th-grade students wearing the yellow Peace Patrol vests during recess and lunch. These students will be helping the noon supervisors with conflict resolution. By using some simple conflict resolution skills, they help kids work out disputes for themselves.
And no one gets in trouble. Instead, kids who talk it out get praised for working together.
The hope is that by finding their own peaceful solutions, kids learn a little empathy for each other and won’t have the same trouble in the future.
